  • What is rendering, and how does City Wide Rendering approach it?

At City Wide Rendering, rendering refers to the art of applying a protective and decorative layer to the walls of buildings. In Sydney’s unique climate and architectural landscape, we use the best materials and techniques to ensure longevity and aesthetics.

  • How does a rendered surface look like?

Render is applied in several finishes to achieve the look of your choice. You can have it applied in painted, smooth, or textured finishes.

  • Is render waterproof?

  • What is a texture?

A texture is an acrylic coating containing various grades of sand which can be tinted to your colour choice. Different textures are available and each one provides a different finish depending on sand grade, such as fine or coarse. The textures can be applied using different methods including trowelling brushing or rolling.

  • How do you apply render?

Your renderer will walk you through the process of applying render. Essentially, render is applied in two coats to deliver a high-quality finish. In some cases, a third coating may be applied, especially when your home’s location or the surface necessitates it.

  • How Does Rendering Work?

Most renderers have their own method of doing things, but the basic steps remain the same. First the wall being rendered is smoothed out and cleaned of excess dust and debris. Once this is done, some renderers may apply a thick coat of the render to the wall, while others will apply thinner coats and sand off excess lumps between each layer. Either way, once the render has reached the desired thickness, the renderer will make sure the surface is smooth using a straight edge, after which more render would be applied to full any gaps left behind by the straight edge. Once this is done, the wall is sponged to make sure the render is as smooth as can be, and then allowed to dry.

  • Why do I need Rendering?

You don’t need rendering, but it does come with some benefits. Although brickwork does look nice, over time bricks can depreciate and crumble. Rendering provides the bricks with a protective barrier against the elements that weaken them, thereby extended their lifespan and deceasing wear on the house. Not only this but a lot of people like the look of rendering, turning old 70’s brickwork houses into modern, sleek looking buildings.

  • What Does Render Look Like?

There are two things that will ultimately determine what your render will look like, what colour it is, and what kind of finish you get. Some people like the natural tones of concrete and acrylic render, but some like to get render painted, and for those people there’s a wide range of choices as render can accommodate most colours in our spectrum. There’s also a fair number of finishes, with finer finishes looking smoother and more modern, while scraped or textured finishes look rougher, and more weathered.

  • Does rendering Sydney properties offer any benefits?

Yes. Rendering offers numerous aesthetic and practical advantages including:

    • Water-resistance – Render increases the water resistance properties of a wall, thereby protecting it from cracking and water damage.
    • Appearance- Render modernizes the look of a home. It can transform an old or dull brick façade or brick home into a contemporary and sleek property. You have options to choose among different colours.
    • Repairs – Rendering is ideal for sealing worn, old, and damaged surfaces, thereby improving their appearance.
    • Adds value – Modernizing your home with render can add to its value significantly.

  • Is rendering a DIY job?

It’s advisable to hire a reputable rendering service to do your upcoming rendering project. An experienced renderer has the much-needed expertise to create a superior render finish.
