Cornice requires two angled (compound) cuts because it is installed onto the wall and ceiling at a 45 or 52-degree angle. Unlike baseboards which are installed flat onto the wall and only require a single angle cut (or a mitre).
Rake cornices are also called sloping or raking cornices. They tend to run along the gable, slope, or pediment of a roof. It is a sloped timber on the outside facing edge of a roof, running between the ridge and the eave.
Make sure the cornice is the right size for the installation area.
